Joyce Davis - Flute
Joyce Davis' passion for music began in church choir as a child. She enjoys
the process of collaborating with other musicians to create beauty that could
not otherwise be achieved individually.
Joyce began playing the flute at an early age, thanks to the garage sale
bargain her parents purchased for her: a $50 nickel-plated Artley. She
co-founded the flute choir, SilverWynde, in 1993, which has become the
musical fixture at Zilker Park's Easter sunrise service.
Joyce grew up in Austin and earned a degree in sociology from The University
of Texas. In addition to music, she is passionate about technology, helping
people connect and collaborate using social software. She conducts
workshops for churches and conferences on the use of social networking in
ministry. In her professional life, Joyce serves as Collaboration Program
Manager for Apple. Joyce lives with her musician husband and two children in
Bee Cave, Texas. You can keep up with Joyce's every move at
Donn LeVie Jr. - Classical Guitar
Donn began playing guitar at age 5 and began studying classical guitar at age
12. As a teenager, Donn moved away from classical guitar to playing in
several rock bands in his high school and college years, having opened for
such bands as The Jimi Hendrix Experience when he was 17 years old. Later,
Donn was a member of the Christian folk-gospel quartet, The Young People,
that performed in churches throughout Florida. He has performed with bands
in the Irwin Center and the Broken Spoke in Austin, and the Saddle Rack,
northern California's largest live country music venue.
Donn returned to studying and performing exclusively on classical guitar in
2000. Donn has studied with Dr. Adam Holzman, founder and director of the
Classical Guitar program at The University of Texas at Austin; Dr. Nicholas
Ciraldo, associate professor of guitar at the University of Southern
Mississippi, and Dr. Matthew Hinsley, executive director of the Austin
Classical Guitar Society where Donn has served as a board member. Donn
currently studies online with Grammy Award-winnig artist, Jason Vieaux.
Donn is also the author It's All About HYMN: Essays on Reclaiming
Sacred and Traditional Music for Worship, which was the WINNER of the
2011 Global eBook Award and Instrumental Influences, a book of mostly
original essays from some of the world's best classical guitar performers and
pedagogues. Instrumental Influences was the WINNER of the 2012
International Book Award and the Runner-Up of the 2011 Global eBook
Award for the Performing Arts. Critics hailed it as "a first for classical music; a
first for classical guitar."
Donn also performs as a solo artist. Visit www.donnleviejr.com for more
